Our Family Eldership is under the leadership of  Paul Dickens.

 Children’s Ministry

The Children’s Ministry at St Agnes offers children a place of security and safety where they are made to feel important and special.  Our aim is to love and nurture every child into a real relationship with Jesus their Saviour.

Children’s Church runs every Sunday in the Hall from 9 – 10:15am for children from 18 months to Grade 7.  We meet in the Hall for praise and worship, a Bible based object lesson and games, and break into age appropriate small groups for crafts, prayer or discussion.  Missions, Fun Days and Olympic days are added fun.

Family Events are planned on a regular basis such as our Giba Gorge family picnic, 5-a-side Soccer and braai, Movie Mania evenings and our Barnyard experience.

A2J (Addicted to Jesus) is our Junior Youth Group, which is held for children in Grade 4 to 7 on Fridays from 5 – 7pm during school terms. Grade 3’s are welcomed in their 4th term. The programme includes time to socialize, games, praise and worship, a lesson, and small group discussions.  Fun events during the year include sleep overs, a Valentine’s banquet, treasure hunts and more.

Counseling is offered to children, or they are referred in need.

If you would like to get involved in this amazing ministry or for more information, please contact Bernice Cousins on 031 7642037 / 0795156938.

St Agnes Children’s Church

Youth

Teen Church- this is held Sunday morning at 9 am. and is for those teens not amped to stay in the main service.  It is here that we try connect the gospel to everyday stuff that teens go through.

Souldout- is the Friday Youth meeting which is really the main time we get to chill together.  Here is the time when the serious come to meet up with the Only One that really matters and in a way that is relevant and radical yet at the same time relaxed.

SonSurf- is a Bible Study time on Wednesday evenings for anyone interested but the core people who come, all have a passion for two things- Jesus and connecting surf culture with the ride of a lifetime.

Schools ministry- this includes stuff like taking RE classes at Thomas More to things like talks in assembly and confirmation courses as well as getting involved in helping with the Truth Project that St Mary’s is presently running.

Pass Thro Fire- this is ridiculously fun and is basically a rite of passage for young boys into manhood.  It is one of the stepping stones and initiatives we are undertaking here for this purpose and has had a profound effect thus far.  It’s a few days away for boys with their dads - doing a whole bunch of crazy things so if you’re grade 7-9 give me a shout.

Other cool stuff I get to do are camps when they’re needed, Youth Alpha (like the one we’re doing soon), encouraging guys to get involved in church life and helping when I’m needed in getting individuals through the stuff life throws at them at times like relationships/parents/school/drugs etc.

Young Adults

We are a community of young adults who want to show the relevance of Jesus and His Kingdom to our generation and see Him transform our world.

The Young Adults Ministry at St Agnes encompasses everyone from matriculants to people in their 30’s.

The place where we connect is at Re:Volve (the 6.00 pm Worship Service), which is aimed at this current generation.  We also connect at a deeper level in our home groups which meet during the week.

In November 2010 we re-launched the Evening Service and Young Adults Ministry as ‘Re:Volve’. This rebranding and re-visioning process was the result of over a year of seeking out God’s heart for the ministry and the service, much planning and hard work on part of our leadership. We felt that we needed to define the ministry in a clearer way, and we believe that this process is achieving that. Our new name and logo reflect our identity and communicates the vision, in terms of our lives and our community ‘revolving’ around Christ.

We have crystallised our values, which we believe will influence what our priorities are, as the following: Kingdom, Worship, Word, Spirit and Relationship.

Our leadership team is made up of – Graydon Scholtz, Jenna Galloway, Ken Brown, Lorenzo Coppola, Mel Gitsham, Colin Radebe, Andrew Morris and me.

W
e love having fun, so there are plenty of opportunities to hang out together.

The point of all of this is that we would grow deeper in our relationship with Christ, with each other, and be equipped to grow His Kingdom here on earth.

We launched our website last month (March 2011). You can check it out – http://revolvelife.com. The website is designed to be highly interactive – you can sign up to the church online, engage with the sermons and the preachers, check out the latest news, share your testimonies, sign up to get involved in a home group or ministry, grow in discipleship by checking out recommended books and helpful websites, and plenty more. The idea is to constantly improve the website and keep it as current as possible. We have already had 716 hits in the space of three weeks!

Family Life under the eldership of Paul Dickens

Actively reaching out to families, in our parish and community, to bring the love of God into all aspects of their lives… This is a special focus at St. Agnes with a number of things already happening and more in the planning.

We are looking at supporting Men as husbands and fathers, Women as wives and mothers and the Family unit as men and women cope with being spouses and parents.

Men: Men’s groups and programmes to build them up as Christian men e.g. Wild at Heart, Mighty Men, and Business Men’s Breakfasts and as Fathers e.g. Passed through Fire for Fathers and Sons and Dads and Daughters camps.

Women: Mother’s support groups like GEMS for mothers with preschool children. There needs to be more and we are looking for people who have a calling in this area e.g. groups for Mothers with School-going Children, a Ladies equivalent of Wild at Heart, a Business-women’s group …

Family: There are currently pre-marriage and marriage courses (programmes for strengthening marriages and another for rescuing marriages that are in trouble) and family gatherings where parents and children can meet.  We are exploring the possibility of introducing Parenting Courses and Divorce Care and Single Parent Support programmes.
